Quick Reference Guide

Below are answers to some of the common questions you may have about the system. It will only take you a minute or two to read, and could save you lots of time later.

Access to the SPOTiCAR e-Auction website

Access to this site is restricted to Vauxhall franchised/SPOTiCAR retailers only. Independent dealers and members of the public may not enter and will not be given access privileges.

If you are a Vauxhall franchised/SPOTiCAR retailer and wish to gain access for the first time, click here to go to the 'Register' page. Once you have sent us your details, we'll be in touch to activate your account.

If you already have account details, login with your username and password.

The cars

New cars are added to our auction every working day and this is your opportunity to make some competitive bids against the cars before they go to open auction. They are all prepared to full Locator standard, and unlike open auction sites, the price you bid includes both Vauxhall Finance plc funding costs and free delivery. These cars COUNT towards your Volume Bonus targets, but they do not PAY. They do NOT include Vauxhall Motors-subsidised Top-Up Warranty.

Cars do not attract Volume Bonus (they neither count nor pay), and they do not come with Lifetime Warranty.

And because the auction is being administered directly by us, and exclusively for SPOTiCAR retailers, there are absolutely NO AUCTION FEES.

How to search for stock

Finding the right cars is easy. Use the search boxes as you would in any car website to bring up the vehicles that fit your criteria. If you're looking for a particular car, you can even type the registration number in the 'freetext' box at the top of the search screen.

Once you've found the right cars, you can watch them in your own 'dashboard' (within the 'My Account' tab), and view special tabs showing all the cars you're watching, or only those you're bidding against, etc.

When you click to see the vehicle details, you'll see multiple photos, full descriptions, and for the last hour of the auction, a constantly counting-down clock.

Each car is available for 3 working days. Lots expire at two minute intervals starting at 2.00pm.

How to bid

You can make your bids in a number of ways:

From the Vehicle Details screen, type in the maximum amount you want to bid and click 'Bid'. Alternatively use the 'Quick Bid' buttons which automatically add the specified amount onto the current price. Either way you will then be asked to confirm your bid.

If you are 'watching' a selection of vehicles, you can bid from the watch screen. This gives you the benefit of see all your cars in a single view.

Alternatively, you can bid directly from the search page by clicking on the 'Bid' button beneath each vehicle.

Maximum bids

Maximum bids work in the same way as any normal electronic auction. Only you know your maximum bid, it is not known to us, and is not known by other bidders.

The system will place bids on your behalf, but will only bid as much as necessary to ensure you remain the highest bidder up to your maximum amount.

  • So if your max bid is 9,500, and someone else bids 9,400, your bid will increase to 9,425 (25 above your competitor's highest bid).

  • If someone else bids the same as your maximum bid, you will still win based on your bid being received first.

  • If someone outbids you, we will notify you by email (subject to your own communication options) so you can respond before the auction ends.

Reserve prices

Every car has a reserve price, which is not viewable on the system. Cars which do not reach their reserve price may still be available to purchase and we will contact the highest underbidder to discuss their options.

What happens next

If you won the auction above the reserve price, we will contact you to arrange funding and delivery.

If you were the highest bidder, but the price was below the reserve, we will contact you to discuss your options.

If you were not the highest bidder, please search for similar vehicles and try again.
